Fishing

We offer a number of fishing package for both the coarse and game fisher. Either experience the great fishing in the loughs and rivers within walking/cycling distance of the schoolhouse or venture further afield to the Great Western Loughs or Loughs Melvin, Arrow and Sheelin to name but a few. A selection of rods, and reels are available at the schoolhouse together with maps and guides to the local loughs and rivers.

We promote a catch and return policy.

Sample Packages

One Day Trip

Departure 08:00 to Lough Conn/Cullen fishing out of Browns` Bay dap and fly fishing wet or dry over Colemans shallows, Victoria Bay, Abbey shore, or troll Castlehill. Navigate Pontoon Bridge and fish Lough Cullen. Packed Lunch included with après pint in Healey`s. Return 19:00

2 to 4 persons @ €110 pp.

Two Day Trip

As above plus overnight at Massebrook cottage. Tide dependent, travel to Lacken Strand for beach fishing for sea trout. Lunch at Innishcrone. Salmon fishing on the Easky River return to schoolhouse via Sligo and Glencar

2 to 4 persons @ €220 pp. Salmon license required.

We can develop fishing excursions to suit all needs and organise boats/ghillies on Loughs Allen, McNean, Sheelin etc as required prior to your arrival at the schoolhouse.

Local Fishing

We have maps and guides together with fishing tackle suitable for coarse and trout fishing in the local loughs and rivers. Each lough and river guide includes access routes with any permissions needed and descriptions of fish species and hotspots

River Shannon at Ironbridge

Permission Free

Trot a worm along the bank during a fresh on the river (level dropping) can produce nice trout to 1lb.

Dry fly to the various pools on either bank could attract a salmon or trout.

Barbles hooks and catch and release is encouraged.
